เครื่องมือและวิธีการปลดล็อค (unlocker tools)

ก่อนหน้านี้ iH8sn0w ได้ออกมา แจ้งข่าวผ่านทางทวิตเตอร์แล้วว่า ช่องโหว่เดิมที่ใช้กับ limera1n exploit ที่ค้นพบโดย geohot และ SHAtter ที่ค้นพบโดย Chronic Dev team ได้ถูกปิดไปเรียบร้อยแล้ว ซึ่งทั้งสองช่องโหว่นี้ เป็นช่องโหว่ในระดับ hardware ซึ่งก็คือถ้าไม่ได้แก้ไขที่ ตัว chip ในเครื่องแล้วก็คงไม่สามารถปิดช่องโหว่นี้ได้ ทำให้ limera1n exploit ถูกใช้ใน jailbreak tools หลายตัวเช่น Greenpois0n, redsn0w, limera1n ที่ใช้มาตั้งแต่เดือนตุลาคมปีที่แล้ว สมัย iOS 4.0.x ล่าสุด iPad 2 ได้ เปลี่ยน processor มาใช้ Apple A5 ทาง Apple ก็ได้ปิดช่องโหว่นี้ เรียบร้อยแล้ว ก็ถือว่าใช้ limera1n exploit คุ้มแล้ว แต่น่าเสียดายที่ SHAtter exploit ถูกปิดไปด้วย

จากทวิตเตอร์ของ Mucsle Nerd หนึ่งใน iPhone Dev Team ก็กล่าวว่า bootrom ของ iPad 2 ใช้เวอร์ชัน iBoot-838.3 ซึ่งมีมาตั้งแต่ มีนาคม 2553 ก็เรียกว่าถูกไปก่อนที่ Geohot และ Chronic Dev team จะค้นพบ ซะอีก ซึ่งก็หมายความว่า iOS Device ก่อนหน้า iPad 2 อย่างเช่น iPhone 4, iPT 4G, iPad รุ่นแรก ยังสามารถเจลเบรคด้วย limera1n  หรือ SHAtter exploit ได้อยู่

ความหวังในการออกตัวเจลเบรคของคราวนี้จะอยู่ที่ใคร ? GeoHot ก็คงไม่มาแน่ในคราวนี้ เพราะคงวุ่นกับ เรื่องคดีฟ้องศาล กับ Sony ส่วน Comex ก็เพิ่งออกมาแจ้งผ่านทวิตเตอร์ว่า kernel bug ที่ตนเองพบ ก็ถูกปิดไปเรียบร้อยแล้วใน iOS 4.3  ความหวังดูเหมือนจะพุ่งตรงไปที่ hacker ชื่อแฝงว่า i0n1c ที่ได้ออก วีดีโอคลิป iOS 4.3 untethered jailbreak มาก่อนหน้านี้

นาย Veeence ผู้ใกล้ชิดในแวดวง jailbreak community เมื่อครั้งที่แล้ว ได้ ออกข่าวค่อนข้างแม่นยำ เกี่ยวกับ greenpois0n jailbreak tool สำหรับ iOS 4.1 แต่สุดท้าย GeoHot มาตัดหน้าออกตัว limera1n ซะก่อน วันนี้ นาย Veeence ได้นำข้อความที่ได้ สัมภาษณ์ นาย GeoHot ผ่านทาง ห้องสนทนาใน IRC
โดยใจความหลัก GeoHot ได้พูดถึง ว่า เขาสามารถ jailbreak แบบ untethered jailbreak กับ iOS 4.3b1 ได้แล้ว ซึ่ง GeoHot ก็ได้ใบ้ออกมาแนวๆ  ว่า ไปดูที่
เว็บ limera1n.com กับ limesn0w.com ดูซิ ตอนนี้มันไม่มีอะไรบนเว็บ (คงหมายถึง limesn0w) ซึ่งทาง Veence ก็ถามว่าเมื่อกี้ GeoHot ก็ตอบแค่ว่า "Soon" ก็คือเร็ว ๆ นี้ และ Veeene ได้ถามเพิ่มอีกว่า สำหรับ iPhone 4 ใช่ไหม คำตอบคือ "ไม่ใช่" แต่เป็น "ทุกเครื่องของ Apple" (ALL APPLE FAMILY)



สรุปแล้ว GeoHot ตอนนี้ เขามี limera1n ที่ jailbreak ได้แบบ untethered jailbreak
สำหรับ iOS 4.2.1 และ 4.3 แล้ว แถมยังมีตัวปลดล็อค สำหรับ iPhone 4  ที่ใช้ baseband 2.10.04 และ 3.10.01 โดยใช้ limesn0w
จากบทสนทนา ตอนนี้ GeoHot กำลังท่องเที่ยวอยู่ในประเทศเยอรมัน และยังไม่มี
หลักประกันอะไรได้ว่า GeoHot จะเป็นตัวจริงเสียงจริง แต่ข่าวมาจากนาย Veeence
ซึ่งก็ค่อนข้างจะเชื่อถือได้
